AHRENS MOTORSPORTS PROMOTIONS
OROVILLE, CALIFORNIA
Newsletter #1 April 4, 2005 There have been a lot of changes since I last communicated with everyone at our 2004 Annual Banquet held at the Dante Club! I will update everyone at a later date. This newsletter is dedicated totally to our upcoming 5th Annual Vintage Kart Reunion being held at the Blue Max Kart Club! 5TH ANNUAL VINTAGE KART REUNION Attached to this newsletter is a flyer that addresses all the information on our upcoming event, only a short 20 days away! PLEASE NOTE- THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD AT A NEW LOCATION-THE BLUE MAX KART CLUB IN DAVIS! I must apologize to many of the Prairie City members, as I had informed many of you that my first event in 2005 was going to be a combined Vintage Kart event, along with a 4 class 50-lap team endurance event at Prairie City. I was informed on February 14th that this date would not be available to me at Prairie City. Since I had made a commitment to the Vintage Karters in September 2004 at their Fall Classic event to continue our tradition, I scrambled to find a new location. I met with the Blue Max Kart Club Board of Directors on March 2nd, wherein they were very receptive and anxious about staging a vintage kart event at their facility, subject to the City of Davis’s concurrence. On behalf of Ahrens Motorsports and the entire Vintage Karters, we would like to thank the Blue Max Kart Club Board and its membership for allowing us to exhibit our sport as it used to be, and the growth we have seen over the past 50 years! Due to the late date in obtaining the new location, I did not feel 30 days was a sufficient amount of time to properly promote a money race, wherein we would have a good turnout. This being the case, the Vintage Kart Reunion will be a stand alone event! As has always been the case, we will have an absolutely great time! NATIONWIDE TURNOUT Over the past 4 years we have had Vintage Karters participating from all over the United States. They have come from Oregon, Arizona, Wyoming, Ohio, New York, and of course all over the State of California. Come one, come all, to enjoy some old time bench racing! FREE VINTAGE KARTER’S BBQ We have been looking for a location to have a Nostalgia Vintage Kart Show after our Saturday practice day. It appears that we will now have the show at the track, along with our traditional Free BBQ! BLUE MAX MEMBERS PRACTICE FREE Attention all Blue Max members!!! Although the Vintage Karts will be at your track for practice on Friday/ Saturday, all members will be able to practice free, which is your membership privilege. Please bring your membership cards, as all non-members will be charged a practice fee to practice on the track. The only time practice will not be available is during the running of the Vintage Kart Reunion on Sunday. VINTAGE KART LINK For additional Vintage Kart information, and links to local Davis motels, there is a link to my web site. To go directly to the site visit www.geocities.com/voxnut Many thanks go out to Dean Seavers for his commitment and organization of the Vintage Karts in Northern California! When you see him at the track, please extend a personal thank you to him for all he does for the Vintage Karts. INVITATION TO ATTEND EXTENDED TO ALL In the past we have had the Vintage Kart Reunion, and the Vintage Kart Fall Classic event in conjunction with a regular club race. I know many of you, who will be receiving this e-mail, enjoyed watching the Vintage Karts and being a part of the camaraderie of the karters who were instrumental in getting our sport to the level of competition and technical advancement we enjoy today. Please come out, and bring your young racers, so they can see what it was like! We guarantee you will all have a very enjoyable day. With this being a stand alone event, we will undoubtedly have an early finish to the days activities (around 3:00).
Gotta Go! HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!! Jerry W. Ahrens Web Pg.- www.ahrensmotorsports.com Bus. (530) 532-1014/ Fax (530) 532-9180
